Top Tips to Know When to Order Fuel in MA, NH & VT
Don’t Wait Until the Tank Is Low
While it can be tempting to hold off on refilling your tank until it’s nearly empty, this can leave you vulnerable to running out of fuel during cold spells or unexpected demand surges. For heating oil users, aim to order when your tank is around 1/4 full. Propane gas users should schedule a refill when the tank level reaches about 30%. This ensures you’ll have enough time for delivery before you run out.
Plan Ahead for Winter Demand
Fuel demand typically spikes during the coldest months, which can sometimes lead to longer delivery times and higher prices. To avoid this, consider filling your tank during the off-season in late summer or early fall when demand is lighter or signing up for a pricing plan. You can opt for a prepay program where you purchase your fuel for the season at a special prepay price, or a budget plan that spreads your annual fuel costs out into even monthly payments.
Schedule Early During Storm Season
Winter storms can disrupt delivery schedules, so it’s always a good idea to order early if you know a major cold front or snowstorm is approaching.
Take Advantage of Automatic Delivery
For added convenience and reliability, consider enrolling in an automatic delivery program. With automatic delivery, Sandri uses your usage history and weather forecasts to predict when you’ll need a refill, ensuring your tank stays full. This eliminates the guesswork and provides consistent comfort all season.
